R esult - What was the outcome, what did you learn and is there anything you should have done differently? Not only is the interview used to assess your potential suitability for the position, it is also an opportunity for you to ask questions of the selection panel to help you decide if this is the right role for you. In addition to interview questions, you may be asked to complete one or more practical exercises to help assess your potential suitability for the position. If you successfully progress through the interview stage of the selection process, you will usually be asked to provide the names and contact details of at least two professional, work-related referees who can be contacted to discuss your skills, experience and performance.
All appointments to the department are subject to reference checks and criminal records checks. All applicants must disclose any current or previous Victorian Public Service employment history as well as any other relevant interstate or privately managed corrections agencies.

As per the Code of Conduct, public sector employees should advise their manager if they have been or become charged with any criminal offences that could reasonably be seen to affect their ability to meet the inherent requirements of the work they are engaged to perform. Employees are also required to declare any conflicts of interests such as outside employment, business or volunteer activities and any associations with individuals who you know or suspect to be engaged in any unlawful activity. If you are the recommended candidate for the position, you will be contacted to discuss the conditions of your proposed appointment. Department policy stipulates that salary upon commencement is paid at the base of the salary range for the relevant grade. Any above base requests require sign off by an executive delegate and will be by exception only or where required to match the current salary of Victorian Public Service staff transferring at level.
